Volvo XC90 Child Seat Concept Makes Cars Safer for Kids

Volvo, the Swedish automaker has come up with a new idea which will make travelling safer for kids in cars in the coming future. Excellence child seat concept in the Volvo XC90 makes cars safer for kids while travelling long distance. Volvo’s designing team has re-designed the car’s interior layout by envisioning the child seat being placed in the front passenger seat rather than backseat, with the seat turned back facing the passenger sitting behind.
Tisha Johnson, Chief Designer Interiors at Volvo Cars Concept and Monitoring Centre, said in the announcement “We have been investigating the nature of progressive luxury for some time. And we see a direct connection between luxury and emotional well-being. For us the safety, convenience, and emotional factors outweigh everything else.”
The Swedish automaker has done various safety studies to come up with Volvo excellence child seat concept, and they also have crash test dummy reports which prove that kids do not fare well in accidents when facing forward. In a rear-facing seat in the Volvo XC90, the entire back of the seat supports the kid’s neck and spine, which will provide much better chance of getting away from accidents without getting any injury.
Lotta Jakobsson, Child Safety Specialist at Volvo Cars, said in a press release “A child’s head weighs a lot more in proportion to the body, and the neck is weak. That is why we strongly believe that children should travel in rearward facing child restraints until they are three-four years old.”

Some other features in the Volvo XC90 besides excellence child seat concept:

Excellence child seat concept in the Volvo XC90 makes cars safer for kids, and also opens up the interior of the car. Passengers in the back seat and even drivers can easily touch, see, and tend to the child. The new seat also provides a function which helps small children up to the age of 3 or 4 to lean back and sleep safely. There are some other conveniences which are made possible in the Volvo XC90 like to include a drawer under the child seat that can hold supplies and toys for kids. To make it easy to get a child in and out of the seat through the front door, the seat also swivels. Volvo XC90 also has heated cup holders to warm a bottle.

How ad-free subscriptions could solve Facebook

At the core of Facebook’s “well-being” problem is that its business is directly coupled with total time spent on its apps. The more hours you pass on the social network, the more ads you see and click, the more money it earns. That puts its plan to make using Facebook healthier at odds with its finances, restricting how far it’s willing to go to protect us from the harms of over use. The advertising-supported model comes with some big benefits, though. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has repeatedly said that “We will always keep Facebook a free service for everyone.” Ads lets Facebook remain free for those who don’t want to pay, and more importantly, for those around the world who couldn’t afford to. Ads pay for Facebook to keep the lights on, research and develop new technologies, and profit handsomely in a way that attracts top talent and further investment. More affluent users with more buying power in markets like the US, UK, and Canada command higher ad prices, effectively

Phoenix OS is (another) Android-as-a-desktop

Google Android may have been developed as a smartphone operating system (and later ported to tablets, TVs, watches, and other platforms), but over the past few years we’ve seen a number of attempts to turn it into a desktop operating system. One of the most successful has been  Remix OS , which gives Android a taskbar, start menu, and an excellent window management system. The Remix OS team has also generated a lot of buzz over the past year, and this week the operating system gained a lot of new alpha testers thanks to a  downloadable version of Remix OS  that you can run on many recent desktop or notebook computers. But Remix OS isn’t the only game in town.  Phoenix OS  is another Android-as-desktop operating system, and while it’s still pretty rough around the edges, there are a few features that could make it a better option for some testers. Some background I first discovered Phoenix OS from  a post in the Remix OS Google Group , although I’ve also found mentions of th
